GARDEN CENTRE SPECIALIST BUYER PALMERS Garden Centres will shortly require an authoratative person to take control of the company’s merchandise direction for the areas of bedding plants, annuals, houseplants, perennials and patio plants. The successful applicant will be the contact point for the company with suppliers, setting up arrangements for branches, purchasing promotional lines and placing forward orders for seasonal lines. While product knowledge is important, the qualities we seek include high skills in negotiating, communicating and clerical procedures. The incumbent will be responsible for gross profit achievement, quality of merchandise, and ensuring that our range is balanced at all times. Our goal is to provide the best to our customers at all times. The position will report to the Merchandise Manager, and the incumbent will work at our Glen Eden Branch, with direct responsibility for the sales and merchandising activities in those areas of merchandise. Some week-end work will be necessary.
