Comment on ACCESS called for
More than 100 submissions have been made on the Government’s proposed ACCESS Transition Education and Training programme. The Minister of Employment, Mr Burke, said that the submissions had generally been supportive of the proposal. Most of the submissions had come from individuals or smaller organisations. “A number of these have come from secondary schools in rural areas, indicating a significant concern for the lack of transition education and training facilities and opportunities in such areas,” he said. ACCESS will be set up next year, but some locally based pilot programmes have already begun. Submissions will close on Friday with the Advisory Panel on Training and Employment Programmes, P.O. Box 3345, Wellington.
