Touragram results

Gladiator had aimed to make last month’s toura-

gram easier than his previous one, but a misprint in the grid ended up producing more confused frowns than ever.

An unwanted “C” had crept into the grid, robbing the “R” from its rightful place in the answer to Clue 4, Sacramento. Fortunately, most entrants were unfazed by the error.

The contest drew a large number of entries, but only about a quarter were correct.

Gladiator again received many compliments from his fans. Mrs T. M. McFadden said the touragrams gave her many hours of pleasure; Mrs A. D. Saunders said she

appreciated the larger print size in the grid; Mr E. F. Breeze said he thought the touragram was the most difficult and intriguing so far; Sue Wagner is putting her gift voucher from last month towards a Gazetteer and Mrs D. Boyd said she

had “lost more hair than I have for some time’.”

Mrs M. Campbell-Boyd said she would appreciate an explanation to Clue 17: “Big noise blew in from this Chicago suburb.” Gladiator advises the answer (Winnetka) can be found in the opening line of a wellknown song. Gift vouchers will be sent to the following winners: J. M. Kinraid, 28 Farrington Avenue, Christchurch 5; Douglas F. Davis, Flat 4, 24 Tasman Street, Nelson, 7001; Mrs J. R. Heslop, Brookside R.D., Leeston; Mrs F. J. Magson, 10 Queens Drive, Ashburton; Mrs Pat Faithfull, 17 Maple Street, Bishopdale, Christchurch 5; Mrs G. C. Wallace, 8 Ulm Place, Christchurch 6.

“The Press” special $lO cash prize for the best school entry has been won by Form 4FH, Papanui High School. Gladiator is at present working on a new touragram which should be completed later this month.
