Bright pink pig in a touring truck

A bright pink three-metre pig with a cheeky smile and a blue ribbon round its neck will travel through Christchurch’s streets today. The pig is made of fibreglass, has a money-box mouth behind its head, and will sit on its haunches in the back of a Nissan King Cab 4x4. The truck will be first prize in a national lottery being held by the Crippled Children Society as part of its golden jubilee celebrations.

The vehicle has been trekking through New Zealand to generate interest in

the lottery, and came to Christchurch last evening.

It will be welcomed this morning by disabled children at the Crippled Children Society premises in Kilmarnock Street, and then be decorated in the Canterbury colours and form part of the Ranfurly Shield procession.

On Monday, it will be at Hornby Mall and on Tuesday at Riccarton. From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, the vehicle will be at the Lions’ monster treasure hunt at Burnside Park, and then will depart for Greymouth.
