Troops killed

Forty-three people were killed in a battle between militiamen and Right-wing guerrillas at a farming cooperative in northern Nicaragua says the Defence Ministry. Thirty-six guerrillas died from a 300-strong force which attacked the cooperative in the Zinica Mountain range, 250 km north of Managua. Some militiamen were killed before the assault was repulsed, the Ministry said. Rebels of the United Statesbacked Nicaraguan Democratic Force announced recently from their base in Honduras that they were stepping up their military campaign against Managua’s Leftist Government. — Managua.
