Ford recalls Sierras

PA Wellington Ford Motor Company of New Zealand, Ltd, said yesterday that it was recalling Ford Sierra waggons assembled before April this year.

The company said 3245 vehicles were affected. Owners were asked to take the vehicles to their Ford dealerships to enable a suspension bolt to be checked. The company said it had been determined that in the vehicles being recalled the rear suspension cross-mem-ber mounting bolt might be tightened to an inadequate torque setting.

Under certain conditions the bolt would tend to come loose and cause a knocking noise from the rear of the vehicle.

As a precautionary measure, all vehicles would be recalled to check and tighten the bolt.
