Record $50,000 for cow
A Holstein Friesian dairy cow from near Christchurch has been sold for $50,000, a New Zealand record. Tahora Star Jewel Ex, from the Tahora Stud of J. J. and J. A. Geddes, Tai Tapu, has been sold to Guy Sargent, of Dalstud, Palmerston North. Tahora Star Jewel is the New Zealand Royal Show champion cow for the Holstein Friesians, a title she gained at the Royal Show at Invercargill last year. She also won the All New Zealand Holstein Friesian competition in 1984 and 1985.
