This post is based at Napier Hospital, but may involve duties at other Board institutions. The appointee will be involved in general duties sharing the call rosters with colleagues at Napier Hospital. The appointee may also practise in a field of special interest. Areas not covered by the Board are in respiratory medicine, oncology and renal medicine; skills in > one of these fields would be an advantage. The Hawke’s Bay Hospital Board serves a catchment of about 140,000 people, and its general medicine services are based at Napier and Hastings Hospitals. A range of advanced x-ray and ultrasound equipment allows for a range of diagnostic work to be carried out locally. There is an active postgraduate society locally and a well endowed research foundation which is anxious to support medical research. The district has a mild climate and there is ready access to recreational facilities close at hand and at Taupo.
