Sex education in schools
Sir,—l acknowledge Mr May’s apology (August 23). It should in fact have been addressed to you for misuse of your column. His statement re “fanatics” using the column for their own ends is quite true. His reference to David and Michelle is totally irrelevant to the
subject. Whatever he is getting at, I would be prepared to take up under another heading. Your correspondent should realise that in this and other subjects Christians have a viewpoint and are entitled to state it without provoking a tirade against the Christian'faith. This necessarily involves statements of Christian truth, and these are worthy of consideration, especially when - backed by positive demonstration within the community. Can humanism provide a positive remedy for the many ills in society its writers fulminate on? On this subject I have room only to refer again to the inherent dangers which- other writers have expressed. — Yours, etc.,
H. G. ORAM August 26, 1985.
