Cattle competition
Interest was high this year in the Cheviot A. and P. Association’s cattle competition and a large crowd followed the judges around the herds of the 24 entries. The judges were Mr John Murray, of Clarence, and Mr Peter Vavasor, of Seddon. The winner of the rising two-year-old heifer section was Jack’s Block, second was Mendip Hills station and third Mr Stuart Pain, Roundhill, Cheviot. The winner of the rising yearling steer section was P. J. Cropp and son, Edge Hills, second was S. Field, Blythe Downs and third was Mendip Hills station. Mendip Hills also won a special prize for the most outstanding entry of the day. The competition resumed this year after a
