Silver Elm works well

Special correspondent Palmerston North Silver Elm attracted most attention in training at Awapuni yesterdayy morning as she rounded off her preparation for a fresh start m the Robinson Handicap at Foxton. Silver Elm looks forward enough for a good showing, especially as she has previously raced well on the fresh side. David Walsh will ride her. Trainer Noel Eales has a useful looking team engaged at Foxton and he could have a good day.

Silver Elm worked on the course proper where the ground was heavy after a frost yesterday morning. She ran 800 metres without much effort in 555, the last 600 m in 41s. She was full of running at the finish and has come up better than ever this season.

Custom, from the same stable as Silver Elm, gives Eales a useful looking hand in the Robinson. The horse worked yesterday with Can Lah and they ran 800 m in 565, easing over the last 600 m in 425. Maree Lyndon

will ride Custom which races well at Foxton.

Can Lah disappointed a little in her last start at Wanganui. She is a good mare which could show improvement in the Newth Handicap at Foxton. Commissionaire sprinted keenly over 600 metres in 41s. He looks very fresh and the top horse is making pleasing progress for spring racing. Buzzalong, which is forward for a fresh start at Foxton, covered 800 metres in 54.65, the last 600 m in 40s.

She is not lacking in ability and ran some useful races last season.

Cornwall King was working well with Cuchulainn at the end of 1400 metres in Imin 41s, the last 600 m easing right up in the ground in 455. Cornwall King won well at Hawera and he is a different horse since he was gelded. He should win again at Foxton.

Fast Track ran 600 metres in 43s and she is in good order for spring racing.
