Storm deaths
A typhoon that swept Shanghai and Zhijiang province, on the east China coast, last week, killed 170 people, injured 1400, and destroyed 20,000 homes, it has been reported. Storms and floods hit 19 prefectures and cities in coastal Zhijiang, destroying 30,000 ha of crops and damaging another 160,000 ha when the typhoon hit on July 30. — Peking.
