Printers to begin vote on F.O.L.

PA Wellington The Printers’ Union will begin next week a national secret ballot to decide whether to leave the Federation of Labour. The union has about 12,000 members and, according to its president, Mr Alan Ryan, disenchantment with F.O.L. is not new to the union. Union officials would make no public statements for or against affiliation

with the F.0.L., he said. The results of the ballot would be binding. The poll would close on September 5 and the result would be announced at a national council meeting in Palmerston North on September 10. Mr Ryan said the ballot was being held after a call for it at the last annual meeting of the union from mainly the Auckland, Well-, ington, and Christchurch branches.
