District forecasts: Canterbury: Showers about the Alps, mostly fine elsewhere, northerly winds, fresh at first, slowly moderating. Marlborough: Northerlies freshening in exposed places, cloudy with scattered light rain, clearing by afternoon, mild. Nelson: Fresh north-easter-lies with periods of rain,

the rain easing later, winds moderating. Buller: Occasional showers, north-easterlies moderating, cool. Westland: Cool with periods of rain, north-easterlies, fresh and gusty in exposed places at first, becoming light during the day. Extended forecast to Tuesday: Canterbury: Few showers spreading off ranges, dry on Monday. Nelson, Buller, Westland: Dry on Sunday, northerlies dying out.
