A modern, two bedroom flat in Dyers Pass Road was sold for $BO,OOO on July 31. The property, which has a kitchenette, large lounge, and single garage, had a 1880 Government Valuation of 137,000. The flat commands good views of the Southern Alps. An ownership flat in Haast Street, Avonside, was sold at a public auction for $37,000 recently. The two bedroom flat with lounge, kitchen, bathroom, and garage, had a 1984 Government Valuation of $35,500. A three bedroom house on Clyde Road, which is bounded by the Avon River, and has a large, secluded section, was passed in at a public auction on August 1 for $82,500. A good attendance marked the auction, which was conducted by Mr Graham Woodly, of Binns, Barber and Keenan, Ltd. The property had a 1984 Government Valuation of $lOB,OOO. The property was advertised as “an unequalled opportunity’,’ for industrial development, being centrally located near the Brougham Street expressway.

A 12.95 hectare block of land in Prebbleton was sold on August 1 for $120,000 at a public auction. The block of land was described a well situated piece of land within easy commuting distance of Christchurch city, and ideal for horticulture or some form of intensive farming. The auctioneer was Mr Hugh Morrison, of Dalgety Crown. The attendance at the auction was good, and the bidding spirited, he said. A large factory complex in Sydenham was passed in at an auction on July 30 for $479,000 — close to the reserve. The property, situated between 125 and 131 Wordsworth Street, and which contained a total of 2170 sq. m. of factory buildings on 2182 sq. m. of land, had a 1984 Government Valuation of $390,000. The auctioneer was Mr Peter Cook, of Simes and Co. The auction drew a good attendance, and the property is now under private negotiations.
