New P.M. sworn in

NZPA-AFP Nairobi The new Ugandan Prime Minister, Mr Paulo Muwanga, was sworn in yesterday with a vow to end bloodshed in the country, Radio Uganda, monitored in Nairobi, reported. Mr Muwanga, VicePresident and Defence Minister in the Milton Obote Government overthrown by the military last week-end, said that he would name his cabinet today. Promising to end bloodshed, he added, “this is not a party Government, therefore there should be no reprisals”. The radio broadcast live the ceremony in the open air in front of Parliament building in Uganda. It was attended by the new military head of State, General Tito Okello, and some Ministers of the former Government. Mr Muwanga, aged 60, who was seen as the “strong

man” of the Obote Government, spoke warmly of Lieutenant-General Okello,

using the term of respect “Mzee” (old man, in Swahili).
