Newspaper disrupted
PA Auckland Industrial action by journalists last evening prevented normal publication of the “New Zealand Herald.” The newspaper appeared today in reduced form. The reduction followed a stop-work meeting by “Herald” members of the Northern Journalists’ Union, who decided not to return to work after a meeting which began at 4.30 p.m. The meeting was called for the journalists to discuss payment of an allowance. The meeting ended about 9 p.m. with the decision not to return to work that evening. Normal publication was expected on Monday, said a senior editorial executive.
