Situations Vacant CERTIFICATED LINEMEN OR TRAINEE LINEMEN SOUTHLAND Electric Power Supply presently has vacancies for Certificated Linemen and/or Linemen Trainees at its Invercargill Depot, and has vacancies at our Gore, Winton, Lumsden and Tuatapere depots from time to time. Any person interested in present or future vacancies is Invited to lodge an application form now. S.E.P.S. has a larger area of supply than any other Supply Authority in New Zealand and has the second highest total length of power lines (7929 km). Accordingly the construction and maintenance of lines is the most significant activity of S.E.P.S., and the training and experience available are second to none. Lineman Trainees are placed on a two-year training programme leading to certification under the Electric Lineman Act. Certification as an Electric Lineman allows employment with any Supply Authority in New Zealand or Australia. S.E.P.S. will then give further training leading to Restricted Certificate under the Electrical Registration Act which will allow promotion to positions of higher responsibility. Promotion prospects include Serviceman, Line Foreman, Line Overseer, and System Control Operator depending on ability and preference.
