Survey of teachers planned

PA Wellington A special campaign is planned later this year and early next year to survey teachers not now in service to find out their ability to work. Teachers will also be encouraged to return by being familiarised with modern classroom teaching, said the Minister of Education, Mr Marshall. The campaign, to be carried out in the third school term this year and again early next year, will assess the mobility of teachers not now in service and (heir availability to teach in permanent, parttime, relieving and day relieving positions. Special grants for local advertising have also been made to education boards. Some teachers will also be seconded to carry out recruitment activities. Mr Marshall said it was expected the first positions in implementing the one teacher to 20 pupil staffing policy would be filled from within the service.
