Greystoke in good order for Hastings
Special correspondent Palmerston North The promising jumper, Greystoke, looked in good order when he galloped at Woodville yesterday morning. He will race in the Farnworth Steeples at Hastings tomorrow. Fast work, if it could be called that, was done on the course proper, which was heavy. Greystoke ran the last 1200 m of his work in 1:30.5, the final 600 m in 43.4. He scored well at Levin in only his second start, and the
fences at Hastings should not trouble him as he measures them well. A race rival, Any Road, a good second at the Manawatu Hunt meeting, completed a round with 600 m in 435. Borrowdale worked from the 1400 m at a solid clip but was not timed. He will contest the Russell Steeples at Hastings. Bridge Player finished ahead of Whata Beauty over 1200 m, taking 46s for the last 600 m. Misty Ann and Look At Me went 800 m in 57.85, the final 600 m in 435. Misty Ann is top weight in
the Okawa Handicap, but will have an allowance with Austin Brown in the saddle. Maple Ice and Ann Deming went 600 m in 425, this time also being recorded by Court Appeal and Salapache. Runneth was not after time over 1000 m, while Thalia took 43.3 s for 600 m. Kerykeion was to have galloped later in the session. He will contest the Winter Cup at Riccarton next week and will be ridden by Garry Williams. Kerykeion has done well since his second in the Taumaranui Cup.
