‘Gay’ law reform meeting
A public meeting in support of the Homosexual Law Reform Bill will be held in Christchurch on Monday. The guest speaker at the meeting will be the member of Parliament who introduced the bill, Ms Fran Wilde (Lab., Wellington Central).
The meeting has been organised by the Lesbian and Gay Rights Action Group, which decided that it was necessary to “accurately inform members of the public” about the bill and how it would affect homosexuals, said a spokesman, Ms Anne Barnes.
Other speakers at the meeting will be an unordained Christian, Mr Mark Vivian; a unionist, Mr Martin Moodie; a member of the A.I.D.S. Support Network, Dr Peter Johnson; and a member of the action group, Ms Annamarie Jagose. The group expects to attract about 500 people to the meeting, which will be held at the Horticultural Hall at 8 p.m.
