Rakaia decision delayed

The Minister of Works and Development, Mr Colman, has said he does not plan to make a decision on the Rakaia water conservation order application at present. Federated Farmers had exercised its right to lodge an appeal with the High Court on points of law arising from the report and recommendation of the Planning Tribunal, he said. This appeal raised questions of law that were fundamental to a decision on the water conservation order application. Accordingly, Mr Colman said, it would be inappropriate for him to make a decision before the outcome of the High Court proceedings was known.
