Police say woman probably alive
PA Hamilton The police believe that a missing Hawera woman, Mrs Alison Valentine, feared dead by her family, is alive and still in the Waikato-Hauraki area. Mrs Valentine, aged 49, went missing on July 13 while driving from her home to Te Poi to visit her daughter, Mrs Wendy Adams. The officer in charge of the case, Sergeant Graeme Moore, of Hamilton, said that the last confirmed sighting of Mrs Valentine was that day about 11 a.m.
at a Cambridge bakery. Other as yet unconfirmed sightings reported her in Morrinsville up to a week later, he said. Most sightings had been of her light metallic blue 1984 Mitsubishi Mirage, because of its distinctively short licence plate number, LI2O. Although the police could not rule out foul play, these sightings implied that Mrs Valentine was still alive, Sergeant Moore said. Mrs Valentine is 165 cm tall (sft 4in), of medium build, with brown, wavy hair.
