Reward claimants
A $25,000 reward posted by the police on July 2 in connection with the Innes murder inquiry had drawn a steady stream of claimants, said the officer in charge of the inquiry, Detective Inspector Jim Millar, yesterday. The reward has been
offered for material information or evidence leading to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Graeme David Innes. Mr Innes, who mixed with the Devil’s Henchmen motorcycle gang, was shot dead from a slow-moving car in Ferry Road on the evening of March 31. The reward notice says that the police will consider an indemnity against prosecution for any accomplice, not being the person or persons who shot Innes, who gives information. The reward will stay open until March 31, 1986. Mr Millar said that the police had had a steady stream of telephone calls about the inquiry. Some callers were interested in the reward, while others, prompted by the publicity, had come forward with other information about the case.
