Health care merger
The merger of two leading medical insurance companies will provide a wider range of benefits to members, according to the elected heads of the two organisations. Mr D. G. Blakemore, president of the Druids Friendly Society Healthcare Fund, and Dr John Todd, chairman of the Mutual Health Society, announced today that the two groups are to merge and will be known as the Mutual Healthcare Fund. “Our societies share a substantial membership base throughout the country, and a similar social philosophy of caring for the community through family health programmes,” said Mr Blakemore. “The combined assets and resulting economics of scale will be of great benefit to members,” he said. He noted that the considerable financial resources of the Druids Friendly Society would provide a basis for investment in the planned expansion of the Mutual Healthcare Fund. “The merger will provide us with a broader basis of membership for the planned expansion of our retirement village programme, and the development of our leisureholiday facilities,” said Mr Blakemore.
