Record to swimmer

PA Auckland Michael Davidson (Roskill) cut 15.47 s off his own national short-course swimming record in clocking 15min 42.45 s for the men’s 1500 m freestyle at Cameron Pool on Saturday. He set his previous mark of 15min 57.92 s in the United States in March.

Four events later Davidson was a member of a 400 m freestyle relay team which also bettered a national record. Along with Richard Wells, Brent Foster and Ross Anderson, the Roskill team set a time of 3min 36.435, cutting by 3.3 s the mark set by Auckland in 1981.
