PA Wellington The managing director of the Auckland-based vehicle distributor Motor Holdings, Ltd, Mr Peter Turner, and a fellow board member, Mr Peter Spencer, have obtained approval of the Commerce Commmission for control of the company. The Stock Exchange has been advised that the Examiner of Commercial Practices has approved a proposal for Ocean Industries, Ltd, and Haumoana Investments, Ltd, to acquire up to 100 per cent of listed Auckland-based vehicle distributor, Motor Holdings,
The two directors said later that Ocean and Haumoana, as investment companies owned by Messrs Turner and Spencer, had gained approval to acquire 51 per cent of the company. Mr Turner said the move would have a very positive effect on the company.
“The Turner family, who founded the company in the 19305, had wanted to secure a stronger position in the company for some time — a stabilising move that we feel sure will be welcomed by our staff,” said Mr Turner.
