The Canadian Staff Band, from the Salvation Army headquarters in Toronto, plays in Cathedral Square on Thursday. The band later marched to the Salvation Army citadel in Victoria Street, where it gave a concert in the evening. Christchurch was the only South Island stop for the 38 band-members on their tour of Australia and New Zealand. They return to Canada at the end of this month.
