Queen Mother visiting Canada

NZPA-PA London The Queen Mother, 85 next month, leaves for a seven-day trip to Canada today. The visit has a strongly military and racing flavour, as well as the normal ceremonial occasions associated with a senior Royal visitor.

The Queen Mother will be welcomed in the capital, Ottawa, before flying to Toronto. She will stay there for three days, and will meet representatives of Canadian regiments at a garden party in Old Fort York and attend

the 126th Queen’s Plate at Woodbine race-track. The Queen Mother will fly on to Regina for Saskatchewan’s eightieth birthday celebrations and then go to Alberta to open the fifth world Aberdeen Angus forum.
