Police await French ship
Christchurch detectives will interview the crew of a French ship due at Lyttelton today as part of the investigation into the sinking of the Rainbow Warrior in Auckland. Interviews of crew members of the 20,300-ton container ship Helene Delmas would be made as a matter of routine, said a spokesman for the Auckland police last evening. Inquiries were being made aboard all vessels which were in Auckland Harbour at the time of the explosions, which on Wednesday night resulted in the death of a crew member of the peace ship. The Helene Delmas, which sailed from Auckland at 1 p.m. on Thursday, is expected at Lyttelton at 2 p.m. today. According to the spokesman, the Christchurch police would make inquiries on behalf of their Auckland counterparts and be in touch with them. The Helene Delmas is due to sail for Melbourne at 9 p.m. today, but the police spokesman said that the departure time would not hinder the investigation.
