Kirk extradition application
PA Wellington A formal application would be made to extradite the former Labour member of Parliament, Mr John Kirk, from the United States, the police said yesterday. After a hearing in the District Court in Wellington, Inspector Bill Bishop said that the process now was for the Attorney-General, Mr Palmer, to authenticate the signatures of court officers “and then to make a formal application for extradition through diplomatic channels.” Judge Hobbs, at the preliminaiy hearing under the Extradition Act, suppressed publication of all evidence except the name of the defendant, the nature of the charges, and the names of witnesses. The three charges are laid under the Insolvency Act.
