The appointee would be responsible for the general operation of equipment and supervision of staff within the Milk Powders and Drying Group of the Dairy Products Development Centre. Duties would Include training of staff, assistance in teaching and instruction programmes for various dairy industry groups, assistance in preparation of experimental projects and ensuring that such projects are correctly Implemented. The position will be funded under New Zealand’s development assistance programme with Kiribati for a period of two years. BROAD OBJECTIVES This is a new position offering the appointee considerable responsibility and authority in devising plans which will meet Kiribati’s manpower requirements. The emphasis will be on manpower planning within the Government sector but the successful applicant will be expected to assess manpower requirements at the national levlel and provide a national manpower plan In accordance with Kiribati’s development strategies. SPECIFIC DUTIES The appointee will be required to: — Forecast national manpower requirements. — Assist Government departments prepare individual manpower plans. — Identify appropriate in-service training courses and co-ordinate training programmes to ensure manpower supplies meet predicted requirements. — Co-ordinate, monitor and evaluate the implementation of the national manpower plan. QUALIFICATIONS Applicant should have strong organisational and communication skills, relevant qualifications and proven experience relating to manpower planning and development. Recent experience In personnel managemenet could be an advantage, as would a degree in economics or a related discipline.
