'7FVV THERMAL POWER STATION MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR The Hydro-Electric Commission Tasmania operates an electrical power system with an Installed capacity of 1940 MW including 240 MW of 011-flred thermal plant at Bell Bay. Future development options include a major coal-fired thermal power station. A vacancy exists for a Maintenance Supervisor as follows:POSiTION NO: 118/85 LOCATION: Bell Bay Power Station is situated In northern Tasmania, 8 km from George Town and 45 km from Launceston and comprises 2 x 120 MW oil-fired units with steam conditions of 13100 kPA/540 degrees C/540 degrees C. SALARY RANGE: $28,443 — $29,923 per annum. DUTIES: The Thermal Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervision of Maintenance Section work force at Bell Bay. He is responsible for organising the day-to-day maintenance of all power station plant and equipment, the availability of spares and materials, maintenance of technical records, drawings and Information and will be required to participate in after-hours emergency work. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: An Engineering Certificate or other tertiary qualification would be an advantage but applicants should have served an apprenticeship in a trade appropriate to power station maintenance and hold the Trade Certificate. Experience in Thermal power stations is desirable or alternatively an extensive working knowledge of large plant and auxiliaries including electrical equipment.
