ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (EXPERIENCED) POWER STATION PLANT LAYOUT A position is available In tne tlectrlcal Engineering branch of the Commission for a professional engineer having extensive experience in electrical design and contract administration of hydro-electric plant and equipment. SALARY: Commencing In a range up to $38,009 depending upon qualifications and experience. LOCATION; Hobart, with occasional travel to field centres. DUTIES: To direct and supervise a subsection engaged on the design layout and control of generating plant, auxiliary equipment, associated power systems and services: the preparation of technical specifications and administration of the electrical engineering content of contracts for major hydro electric plant, including generators, transformers, switchgear, controlgear, auxiliaries and ancillary equipment and liaison with other divisions and branches within the Commission on electrical control and station layout matters. QUALIFICATIONS: A Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering acceptable for admission to membership of the Institute of Engineers, Australia with at least 10 years in electrical engineering design and contract administration of major hydro-electric plant and equipment, or equivalent acceptable experience. THE COMMISSION: The Hydro-electric Commission is responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of electric power throughout the State of Tasmania. In addition its activities include the construction of major civil and electrical engineering projects including roads, dams, tunnels, power stations and high voltage transmission lines. This position involves the investigation and implementation of projects and plant modification within the pulp and paper mills. The minimum qualification required for this position is NZCE in Electrical or Mechanical Instrumentation. Experience in both electrical and instrument engineering would be an advantage. However, this position is a good opportunity for a person with either an electrical or instrumentation background to broaden their engineering in a large industrial complex.
