S. Lyell, who held the Chair with the title of Operative Dentistry. The Chair is at present located in the Department of Operative Dentistry but the Faculty is currently considering a reconstruction of its departments and its clinical teaching. The main teaching and research areas are operative dentistry, crown and bridgework, endodontics and dental materials science. Applicants should have advanced clinical experience in one or more of these areas and hold a dental qualification which entitles them to practise dentistry in New South Wales. UNIVERSITY OF AUCKLAND DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE A SENIOR LECTURESHIP IN MEDICINE APPLICANTS must hold medical qualifications registrable In New Zealand and have higher qualifications in internal medicine. A higher academic qualification in science or medical science would also be desirable. The post Is based at Middlemore Hospital, South Auckland. There is a major workload in the South Auckland area In relation to metabolic medicine, diabetes and renal failure. An interest in these fields, particularly in diabetes, would be an advantage, although a wide range of Medical specialties, in terms of research (Academic and Clinical) would be suitable for the post. There will be a clinical commitment of up to 5/10 with the Auckland Hospital Board. Salary will be established within the range $NZ38,026 to $48,824 per annum. VICTORIA UNIVERSITY OF WELLINGTON WRITER’S FELLOWSHIP THE VICTORIA UNIVERSITY of Wellington Writer’s Fellowship for 1986 is open to writers in all areas of literary activity, including drama, fiction and poetry, New Zealand art, biography, history, etc. Applicants should be authors of proven merit normally resident in New Zealand, or New Zealanders currently resident overseas. The Fellow will have the opportunity of writing full-time in an academic environment. There is no formal teaching requirement. The Victoria University of Wellington Writer’s Fellowship is funded jointly on an annual basis by the University and the New Zealand Literary Fund.
