Inflation in the 24 countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Develop'ment slowed in May from April, but rose slightly over the six months and the year to May. A small drop in food prices, combined with a slower rise in the prices of energy and other items, held the May rise in consumer prices to 0.4 per cent after a 0.6 per cent increase in April.
