Telethon in top 10
International rugby and Telethon were among the top 10 programmes during the week of June 29 to Jnly 5, according to the Broadcasting Corporation’s ratings. Live coverage of the rugby test between New Zealand and Australia on Saturday, June 29, had an audience of about 1 million, earning it sixth place in the ratings. In tenth place, Telethon
drew an average 32.6 per cent of the audience later the same day, with about 982,000 viewers. The Telethon audience peaked, however, as it drew to an end at 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, taking up to 70 per cent of the audience. Another sporting fixture, the rugby league test between New Zealand and Australia on Sunday was placed twenty-fifth with an
