Shipping news Lyttelton missing out
The two Japanese naval ships that will visit New Zealand early next month will call at Auckland and Wellington, but not Lyttelton. The training vessel Katori and the destroyer Makigumo form part of the training squadron of the Japaneese Maritime Defence Force. A report in the latest edition of the “Far Eastern Economic Review” suggested that holding exercises with Japanese non-nuclear ships could enhance New Zealand’s own nonnuclear position.
