Stronger smoking warnings
NZPA-Reuter Washington The United States Government announced yesterday the approval of stronger health warnings on cigarette packages and advertising specifically cautioning that smoking causes lung cancer, heart disease, and emphysema. The existing warning on tobacco products merely states: “Cigarette smoking is dangerous to your health.” Under the plan approved by the United States Federal Trade Commission cigarette-makers will rotate four warnings on products and in advertisements every three months, beginning in October.
