Wild card wait
The New Zealand Basketball Federation will have to wait until next January or February before it knows if it has been given a "wild card” entry for next year’s world men’s championships in Spain. The International Basketball Federation yesterday advised the New Zealand Federation of a delay in the decision. “Originally, the world body
was to make an announcement in September,” said the federation’s executive director, Mr Joe McLeod. “Now we will have to go ahead and play a qualifying series against Australia in Sydney and Melbourne in October.” It is expected that one qualifying game will be held in Sydney and the other two games in Melbourne.
