MARLBOROUGH COUNTY COUNCIL ASSISTANT COUNTY TREASURER Location: Blenheim Salary within $23,000 - $27,000 range The Council is responsible for the administration, works, planning and defelopment of the County. The Treasury is one of four departments carrying out the Council’s resposibilities. It has a staff of 9 (of a total Council salaried staff of 34), and covers activities as broad ranging as costings, creditors, debtors, payroll, personnel, stock controls, registrations, electoral roll, insurance, computer operations, internal audit. The Treasury also plays an active part in the promotion and development activities of the Council. The appointee will assist the Treasurer in controlling and managing the day to day functions of the Treasury Department and deputise where necessary for the Treasurer. There will be opportunities for involvement in the development of an integrated accounting/ management information system through a Prime 2550 computer system which will be servicing several local authorities. The position offers a variety of experience and exposure to sophisticated systems which would ideally equip an ambitious person for progression to higher levels of accounting management. The salary is very competitive and housing finance would be available. The person sought will hold or have made substantial progress towards ACA; have had 2-4 years minimum accounting experience; be familiar with computer systems; have had experience of supervising staff; have good communication skills.
