Johnson, booked for Noble Note

By

J. J. BOYLE

Success eluded the Riccarton jockey Chris Johnson while he was in Melbourne for some weeks but he has returned home hoping for an early change of luck. Johnson, who went to Melbourne in the autumn to ride members of a small team being campaigned by Bevan Laming, will, if his clearance comes through, reappear on the local scene at the Waimate Hunt meeting tomorrow. To give his homecoming an additional boost, he has been engaged to ride the talented galloper, Noble Note, in a fresh campaign, starting with a sprint at the South Canterbury Hunt meeting next week, and including the Winter Cup at Riccarton next month. Johnson, who partnered Canterbury Belle in her wins in New Zealand this

season, has been engaged for Natep, Sheffield Plate, Tail Wind, Moomba, Double Gin, and Cattle Lass at Waimate.
