Greek Meer and Choir Path for Trentham double
Special correspondent Wellington Greek Meer and Choir Path, between them the winners of 11 races at Trentham, look a readymade T.A.B. double combination for the final day of the Wellington Racing Club’s meeting there tomorrow.
Greek Meer will be shooting for his second successive Winter Oats, while Choir Path will attempt the second leg, the Onslow Handicap, a race in which he finished fifth last year.
Both have won at the meeting already: Greek Meer scored by seven lengths in the Parliamentary Handicap on Wednesday after running second in the Whyte, and Choir Path’s win came last Saturday in the Stewards Handicap. He has not raced since then.
Greek Meer, with 56kg, has the top weight in the Winter Oats and will be a popular favourite with veteran, Bill Skelton, up on his last day of riding at Trentham. An even field has been
carded for the race. Miles Better looks due to improve and good efforts could come from Betim, Rebecca and Chief Joseph. Choir Path’s main opposition could come from Black Arrow. The South Islander ran an excellent race to get
fifth in the Whyte Handicap and his work yesterday was first class. He looks to be at a dangerous place in the handicap. Colman, which also has a good record on Trentham, Flying Tui and Bridge Player may be the best of the others.
