New agriculture head at T.C.I.
Mr Hugh McCardle has been appointed head of the agriculture department of the Technical Correspondence Institute, New Zealand’s largest educational institution. The department has 2500 students throughout New Zealand. Mr McCardle, who was educated at Wellington College and Victoria and Mas-
sey Universities, has had a long association with practical farming both in New Zealand and overseas.
Before joining the T.C.I. in 1980, he had 15 years teaching and was also a Colombo Plan adviser (rural and agricultural development) in Thailand. Mr McCardle and his family own and operate a town milk supply unit at Waikanae in - the Horowhenua in conjunction with a floriculture unit which is operating in the export market.
