Superannuation schemes

Sir,—Mrs Sally Couper says that in 15 years there will be too many people over 60 and too few in the work force to pay enough taxes to support them. Labour politicians broadcast this theory, but the facts are that at present the number of people over 60 is 14 per cent of the population, in the year 2035 the percentage will be 16, a rise of only 2 per cent in 50 years. These figures were supplied by the Planning Council, which advises the Government. — Yours, etc., J. WILLIAMSON. July 2, 1985.
