Mining in State forests
Sir,—Miss L. T. Taylor congratulates the Minister of Forests on contradicting previous Ministerial consents. She goes on to say “Mr O’Regan and many others have a touching belief that anything profitable to them cannot harm the natural world.” These are Miss Taylor’s words not mine. However, we also have a touching belief that people must be fed, clothed and housed; and another touching belief that if Ministerial consents are to be contradicted at will, then Ministerial consents are devalued and democracy goes out the window.— Yours, etc., J. R. O’REGAN. Reefton, June 27, 1985.
