Heathcote rate average $566
Heathcote County ratepayers will face an average rate bill of $566 this year. The average rate figure was incorrectly given as $640 in an article on amalgamation in “The Press” yesterday. The $640 figure given was for a property valued at $45,000 and not an average for the whole county. ThS average rate was
higher in the county than m Christchurch City because ad hoc bodies for which the councils collect rated on capital values and property values were generally higher in Heathcote than in the city, said the County Chairman, Mr Oscar Alpers. Once the amounts paid to ad hoc bodies were deducted, Heathcote’s average rate was $278 and. the city’s, $317.
