Nominations called for regional youth council

Nominations are called for the proposed Canterbury regional youth council which will be formed to identify and promote the needs and interest of young people in the region. The council will have about 12 youth members between the ages of 15 and 25, and a board of four or five members with knowledge and experience of youth affairs to act in an advisory role. It will advise local and central Government on the views of young people and set priorities for youth development in the region. The council will work with the Youth Services Distribution Committee to allocate funds from the Lottery Board. Secretarial support for the council will be provided by the Canterbury United Council. Membership will be open to all structured and unstructured youth groups in Canterbury. Applications will close on July 31 and should be made through the Internal Affairs Department.
