No Rakaia decision yet
Wellington reporter No decision will be made on the application for a water conservation order over the Rakaia River by the Minister of Works and Development, Mr Colman, until any appeals to the High Court have been heard and decided. The Minister has been advised that Federated Farmers plans to appeal to the High Court on the ruling of the Planning Tribunal. The federaton is expected
to appeal, in the interest of primary industry, against the allocations of water from the Rakaia made by the Planning Trbibunal. The Planning Tribunal publicly notified the fact that it has made a report, and a recommendation on the Rakaia River water conservation order application on June 22. This means that the deadline for filing appeals to the High Court on points of law will be July 22.
