McIntosh course organised

The Canterbury area of the N.Z.H.S Show Jumping committee has arranged a Colin Mclntosh course from September 26 to 29. A group fee will be $7O (deposit $2O), and the private fee $2B (deposit $10). Deposits must be paid by August 16 to Mrs Mary Snoep, 197 Taylors Mistake Road, Sumner, Phone 266-182.

A national points series, run by the N.Z.H.S., has been introduced for A and B grade ponies. This new competition will be based on the system under which the Bayer Kintal Grand Prix series, for A and B horses is operated. Classes will be run at major shows, and prizewinners will be awarded points, which will count for their over-all points.

The Waihora Pony Club branch held their novice and intermediate O.D.H.T. on the Gray brothers’ property at Motukarara recently in fine

weather. Although’ there were few eliminations in the crosscountry, many riders incurred time penalties. Results: Intermediate, 17 years and over: D. Burrell’s Lady Amethyst 1, M. Peard’s The First 1, L. Burra’s Charles Bronte 2, R. Byfield’s Somerset 3. Novice, 14 years and under: M. Shipley’s Golden Glow 1, A. Rainey’s Nicolai 2, D. Hughes' Classic Wine 3. Bruerton’s Black Mist 3. • • » Show jumping training days will be held at Kennels Park, Yaldhurst, on July 21 and August 18. Both days will start at 10 a.m. * * • This week-end, the Rakaia Pony Club branch is holding a novice and open event at Taylors property, Dorie. Entries number 160, and Sunday’s start will be 8.30 a.m. * • * Events in the future include the Labour week-end jumping show at Ellesmere, and the Rangiora jumping show at the Rangiora Showgrounds which will be held on November 16. Novice pony events will be offered at both shows, although these riders do not have to be members of the N.Z.H.S.
